Exposure Lock was created to eliminate the need to spend time calculating exposure stops in the field.
No matter what area of photography you are focusing on, Exposure Lock can and will allow you to spend more time capturing and creating photos and less time calculating. It’s easy to use design allows for fast action in the field or to simply allow your mind to stay creative while working on your concepts.
Whether you need a particular aperture for your macro subject, a certain shutter speed for your landscape or adding ND filters and want to keep exposure spot on, Exposure Lock is perfect and goes beyond what your cameras lock function could ever do.
My favourite use for Exposure Lock is astrophotography. A tricky area of photography and one that can take a lot of math work to get right. You can easily get lost in all the numbers and eventually lose sight of your creativity and direction.
With this app by your side you keep your mind on the photography and the math is literally done for you.
With an easy to use and intuitive interface, simply enter your exposure information, hit the exposure lock icon and lock any value you wish to remain untouched.
Then change any value you wish, the program will then adjust any values that are unlocked to keep your exposure spot on instantly.
In the example above you see how simplified the workflow for astrophotography is with this powerful app.
No matter where you are every night of the year has a different light pollution, no matter what level of experience you have you need to do some test shots to how light pollution is going to effect your shots. With Exposure Lock you have the ability to put your ISO to it’s maximum and take test shots at a fraction of the shutter speed your final shots will be taken with. Minimising the total time spent preparing massively.
With your ISO high you find the exposure you’re happy with. Place your information into Exposure Lock, hit the Exposure Lock icon, lock your aperture and ND attributes and spin the ISO to your preferred ISO for night shots and instantly you’re given the shutter speed required to gain the exact exposure given in your high ISO test shots just without the ugly noise.
It can also be used to make sure your shutter speed stays at a level that will keep star trails at bay.. or even the length you wish.
Exposure Lock can be used to reduce time in any workflow of any area of photography, allowing you to stay creative and without a single moment wasted on calculations.
